How to cook steaks to perfection.
Very Rare Steak
For a very rare steak, cook the meat for 2-3 minutes, until just seared on both sides. The steak should feel very soft when pressed and the interior should be reddish purple when the meat is sliced.
Rare Steak
To cook a rare steak, look for the point where drop of blood come to the surface, then turn the steak over and cook for a total of 6-9 minute. It should feel soft and spongy and the interior should be red.
Medium Rare Steak
For a medium-rare steak, cook for a total of 8-10 minutes, but turn the meat when drops of juice are first visible. The steak should offer resistance when pressed and be pink in the middle.
Well Done Steak
A well done steak needs to be cooked for 12-14 minutes in total. Turn the meat when drops of juice are clearly visible. The steak should feel firm and be uniformly brown throughout.
